Frequently Asked Questions
How do I measure my dog’s neck for a collar?
Our guide for how to measure your dog is available at the bottom of each product description. Additionally, there is a page called size charts under the shop category for more information.
How do I clean and maintain my dog collar?
You can wash mud off a Malulu collar with soap, water and nail brush. Once clean, allow the collar to dry naturally – DO NOT use artificial heat (I.e. hair dryer or tumble dryer). Leather wax can also be used to help maintain the leather.
How many collars do you have?
Our collars come in 3 widths (regular, skinny and lurcher) and we have 15 different styles. We have 8 collars in our new range:
- Stars & Stripes
- Zanzibar Gold
- Mombasa Green
- Malindi Yellow
- Mombasa Pink
- Kilifi Blue
- Mombasa Red
- Union Jack
And 7 in our sale range:
- Bajuni
- Digo
- Rafiki Black
- Rafiki Blue
- Pokot Red
- Masai Miti
- Zigzag Pink
How are your collars made?
Our collars are made by our manufacturer Atelier Zinj in Kenya, using leather, glass beads and brass. A video on how they’re made can be found on our ‘Malulu Media’ Page. More information about our manufacturer can be found on our ‘About our supplier’ page.
Where is Malulu based?
Southwater, Horsham, West Sussex.
Are your collars fair trade?
Yes! All the employees our manufacturer employs are given a fair wage for all their work. At Malulu, we strongly believe in paying employees what they’re worth. Under “Malulu Media” we have a section called Malulu stories, where employees of our manufacturer talk about how Malulu has changed their lives for the better.
Do you use real leather?
Yes we do. Our manufacturer uses a great high quality leather to make sure Malulu’s collars are made to the highest standard.
How can my dog become a Malulu model?
We’re really excited you’re interested in becoming a Malulu model! Email us at info@malulu.co.uk with a picture of your dog and we’ll get in touch shortly.
How durable are Malulu collars?
Malulu collars have been professionally tested by Intertek to ensure these collars will withstand the wear and tear of your dog.
How tight is the beading? Will it come off?
All of the beads are sewn onto each collar very tightly. It is very unlikely that beads would come off, as they are sewn on with age-old Kenyan sewing techniques. On the off-chance a bead does come off, the other beads won’t come off because each bead is sewn on individually.
Are you introducing any new collars?
We always have new designs in the works, so watch this space!
Can I get a personalised collar?
Unfortunately, at this stage, we don’t currently offer this service.
Is it possible to get my dog fitted in person?
